EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing
The mind can heal itself naturally in the same way the body does. Much of this natural copingmechanism occurs during sleep, particularly during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. However, when we experience trauma, such as trauma during childhood or, for example, perhaps a recent car accident, then the natural coping mechanism can become overloaded. This can lead to the disturbing experiences remaining frozen in the brain or being “unprocessed”.
Therefore the process of EMDR involves the identification of unprocessed traumatic or other distressing experiences that are continuing to drive an individual’s psychological disturbance, as in present day issues. This can be achieved through eye movements or tapping bilaterally, known as bilateral stimulation.

Therapists have been administering EMDR online with success for years.
The pandemic further highlighted the need for effective, online treatments and since then there’s
been the development of platforms that support bilateral stimulation, such as Bilateral Base.
Couples Therapy
Supporting Couples - helping you to make time to think and talk about your
relationship, to help you both be more open and turn to each other in a more open way, to
encourage conversations to continue during and after the sessions. Couples Therapy can help you
both anticipate issues before tensions deepen and help you speak about your current experiences.
It is also to help you understand the needs and wishes of each other and to acknowledge and
bring to mind any existing resources within the relationship and perhaps what is getting in the way
of accessing them.
Online Therapy
Back in March 2020 when we all experienced the lockdowns due to the pandemic, I developed my
online practice. Using platforms which are fully security-compliant — Health Insurance Portability
and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
I use Bilateral Base and Zoom. All you need to provide is an internet connection and a safe and
quiet space for yourself.
